NUS Guangzhou Research Translation and Innovation Institute (GRTII)-Affiliated Master's Scholarship
This Masters’ Scholarship is sponsored by Guangzhou’s Huangpu District and aims to leverage the world-class educational resources of the National University of Singapore to support highly qualified master’s degree holders with a global perspective and cutting-edge technological knowledge.
The scholarship is open to students who have confirmed the acceptance of the Letter of Offer from the National University of Singapore (NUS) for one of the 20 eligible Master’s programmes starting in the AY2025/2026 (August intake). Each scholarship provides a tuition subsidy of S$45,000. Recipients will complete their studies at NUS. Upon graduation, they will be required to return to the Huangpu District to work or start a business for at least twenty-four (24) months. This obligation must be completed no later than thirty (30) months after graduation.

- Sign a service bond agreement with Guangzhou Development District Talent Work Group to work for at least twenty-four (24) months in Huangpu District of Guangzhou City after graduation. You will have thirty (30) months to fulfill this obligation.
- Be proficient in Chinese.
Stipend Details
- Each scholarship recipient will receive a one-off lump sum of S$45,000.
- The scholarship will be disbursed as a reimbursement for Semester 1 tuition fees, with any remaining balance applied to Semester 2 tuition. Recipients are required to initially pay their Semester 1 tuition in full as stipulated by their respective Master’s Programmes.

Service Bonds
- Scholarship recipients are required to sign a service bond with Guangzhou Development District Talent Work Group and commit to fulfilling the service bond to work for at least twenty-four (24) months in Huangpu District of Guangzhou City upon graduation. Scholarship recipients may be self-employed, employed under government or any business entities. This obligation must be completed no later than thirty (30) months after graduation.
- Scholarship recipients are required to secure a qualified guarantor who will co-sign the service bond with the Guangzhou Development District Talent Work Group. The guarantor will assume joint and several liability for compensation in the event of a breach of contract by the recipient.
- In the event of breach of contract, scholarship recipients will be required to refund the scholarship award received to NUS GRTII and bear the corresponding liquidated damages.
Other Terms and Conditions
- Scholarship recipients are required to meet all ongoing and graduation criteria of their master’s programmes. Failure to comply will lead to the forfeiture of their scholarship.
- The Scholarship is tenable only at the University and the scholarship recipient must reside in Singapore for the duration of the Scholarship. As full-time students, recipients are expected to report to their department of study at the University, attend all classes and complete all assignments and exams during the period of the Scholarship, except during periods of approved leave.
- Scholarship recipients will ordinarily be limited to one semester of Leave of Absence (LOA) which must be granted on grounds that can reasonably be expected to be resolved. At the time of application for a semester of LOA, recipients must notify GRTII and PVO and include the reason for the application and the plan to address the circumstances.
- A second semester of LOA may be granted on appeal for exceptional reasons, and must be approved in advance. A written statement must be submitted to the University before LOA is scheduled to commence.

b) Step 2: All required supporting documents listed below must be submitted as PDF files via email to <master.scholarship.apply@nusgrtii.cn> by the specified deadline.
c) Supporting Documents:
- E-Copy of Letter of Offer granted by NUS and the respective cover email (EML format) from NUS.
- E-Copy of Acceptance Fee Receipt granted by NUS.
- E-Copy of Undergraduate Degree Scroll/Study Status Certificate.
- E-Copy of undergraduate transcripts or result notifications submitted as part of your NUS Master’s Programme application. These documents should clearly reflect the overall average score or GPA that you reported.
- E-Copy of other supporting documents, including any major achievements, awards and prizes received, etc., if applicable.
