NUS-KI Student Exchange for PhD Students

An exciting partnership between the National University of Singapore and the Karolinska Institutet!

One of the world’s foremost medical universities, Karolinska Institutet accounts for the single largest share of all academic medical research conducted in Sweden. The university also offers the country’s broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences.

Eligibility Criteria & Requirements

Full-time PhD students with min GPA 4.0. However, student exchange cannot be during the semester of thesis submission.

Student must have completed coursework.

Student must have clocked GAP hours (50%, 75% and 100% for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year of candidature respectively) before the attachment.

Apply one semester before the attachment.

Duration of student exchange in KI to be minimally one month, and maximally six months.

A lab safety course is mandatory for the exchange student from NUS, if deemed required by KI.

Research Proposal

Research proposal must be drafted in consultation with KI supervisor.

Invitation
Letter

Invitation letter to be co-signed by KI Host Supervisor and HOD.

Application Endorsement

Host department application has to be endorsed by NUS thesis advisor and HOD.

Finances

Tuition fees in KI will be waived.

NUS PhD student will receive insurance coverage under Student Travel Insurance Policy.

KI will secure accommodation for each student. Rental rates may vary, and cost is to be borne by the student.

All other expenses incurred during the exchange trip shall be financed by student too.
