Why did you choose to do a PhD?

I enjoyed the dynamic and collaborative nature of research during my internship at Nestle R&D Singapore during my undergraduate studies. This inspired me to pursue a career in research.

Why did you choose to do graduate education at NUS? If you received offers from other universities, why did you pick NUS?

NUS has a flexible PhD program which accommodates diverse fields of research and provides generous financial support for research attachments, conferences, books and IT necessities.

Briefly share a highlight from your graduate school journey.

The highlight of my candidature was a 10-month research attachment at Nestle Research Center (Switzerland) under NUS Graduate School’s 2+2 program. During which, I expedited my research with the guidance of subject experts. I also had the opportunity to contribute to two industrial projects and receive coaching on how to present my research to key decision makers at the company. This was invaluable experience in my pursuit to become a better researcher. The icing on the cake was how much fun I had – baking cookies with my colleagues, going on hiking adventures with my newfound friends and visiting Christmas markets at nearby Austria and Germany. This would not have been possible without the support of NUS Graduate School, my supervisors, and collaborators.
