Why Did You Choose To Pursue A PhD?

From my undergraduate final year project (FYP), I have discovered my interest in doing research and started to considered pursuing further education in PhD. Furthermore, after working in the industry for about one and half years, it strengthens my determination to do a PhD. The skills you learn in PhD is not just in the area of academics but also soft skills such as the ability to communicate effectively and problem solving skills. These skills are transferrable in all future pursuits whether it is in the field of academics or industries.

How does PhD graduate education compare with your undergraduate experience?

As compared to undergraduate studies in NUS, PhD in NUS offers more freedom and allows the student to be more independent in exploring the area of interest while providing adequate support and guidance. PhD graduate education also encourages the students to move out of their comfort zone and interact with expertise from all fields, not just specifically in the area of research.
