"Follow your passion."

In retrospect, would you still have chosen to do a PhD? Why?

Definitely. PhD study not only allowed me to gain in-depth knowledge of my professional field, but also to think creatively in my daily life.

On hindsight, would you still have chosen NUS to do your PhD?

Yes. NUS has a collaborative environment that enabled me to interact with people from other disciplines.

On hindsight, would you have chosen the same research topic for your PhD?

Yes. I’d chose the same topic. My topic focused on the cutting edge minimally invasive cell-free therapy for diseases. It has attracted a lot of attention from both the academia and industry.

On hindsight, would you have chosen the same research supervisor for your PhD?

Absolutely. I have learnt a lot from my supervisor, A/Prof. Toh Wei Seong. He guided me in both my PhD studies and career development.

How did your experiences as a graduate student shape and guide you in your current career?

The research techniques, critical thinking mindset and creativity that I’ve built up during my PhD study paved the way for my career development.

Name 2-3 things you wished you had been told when you started graduate school?

Find your interest, set your goal, and work smart.

What advice would you give someone considering doing his/her PhD at NUS?

Do well in your studies, and interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
