The Laboratory of Nature-inspired Advanced Materials Engineering led by Dr Zhai Wei is based at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore. Our research is focused on 4M, Multiscale Manufacturing of Multifunctional Materials. We design and engineer materials via multiple length scale structural controllable material processing technologies, such as additive manufacturing, freeze casting, etc. We are targeting developing lightweight and strong materials with multifunctionality, such as acoustic, electrical, and electromagnetic properties. Our group is taking a multi-disciplinary approach using the principles of engineering, materials, chemistry, and physics.
