Brief Description of Research:

My research interests include pavement engineering, and multimodal transport infrastructures and operations, with emphasis on future mega-transport infrastructures/operations (such as car-lite/car-free towns, next generation seaports and airports). In recent years, I am particularly involved in designing new pavement materials which involve the use of recycled materials or plastic wastes and also the design of new testing protocols for pavement testing so that we can produce airfield and highway pavements that are safe, resilient, and environmental friendly. In the area of transport infrastructures and operations, I am very interested in research dealing with interfacing big data and artificial intelligence in multimodal transport operations, designing car-lite or car-free cities that involves active mobility, public transport and use of electric and autonomous vehicles – spanning cross disciplinary interests in urban planning, infrastructure planning and design, policies and operational modelling.
