Brief Description of Research:

My research focus on both 3D-printable construction materials and building component design for 3D-printed structures especially in the aspect of shape/topology optimization and providing special functions. For example, I am currently developing 3D-printed offshore structures (floating in ocean) based on hydrodynamic behavior, damping property, impact resistance and overall structural performance. On the other hand, I am looking for using 3D-printed building component for reshaping the build environment including carrying out such works for urban farming/greening for better human well-being. Concurrently, I also work on projects where various types of waste materials (such as various type of industrial by-product) are incorporate with concrete, plastic or other materials for 3D-printing. My research consists of computational simulation and experimental study to look into the feasibility and performance of the novel materials and structures for Construction 3D-printing.
