Dr Rafi Rashid
Dr Rafi RASHID is a Senior Lecturer in the NUS Graduate School. He holds a PhD in Biophysics & Bioengineering and a BSc (Hons) in Life Sciences. He has two broad areas of research: mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in bacteria and strategies for enhancing PhD education. He has published papers on the role of lipids in mediating AMR in Enterococcus faecalis, rethinking PhD education in the 21st century, and desiderata for interdisciplinary graduate teaching, as well as two recent book and encyclopaedia chapters titled “Blended Learning and Interdisciplinarity” and “Interdisciplinary Doctoral Education”, respectively. He is Coordinator of the NUS Three Minute Thesis (3MT) programme, a collaboration between NUS Graduate School and the Centre for English Language Communication dedicated to preparing PhD students for the annual 3MT competition at the NUS, Singapore, and international levels.
