Why did you choose to do graduate education at NUS? If you received offers from other universities, why did you pick NUS?
NUS is my natural choice for graduate education. The rigorous curriculum at the School of Computing provided me with an excellent computer science foundation, since undergraduate days. I deeply believe that one can pursue a high-quality, and high-impact graduate education in Singapore, with NUS being one of the best universities in the world.
NUS will always be a second home, where I “grew up” both academically and professionally.
I am always grateful to my PhD advisors – Prof Stéphane Bressan and Prof Lee Mong Li who has nurtured my interest in pursuing graduate studies.
Briefly share about your research or thesis (i.e. dissertation topic for Masters by Coursework students).
The thesis explored the design of progressive join algorithms for data streaming applications. The research contributions leverage sampling and statistical techniques to intelligently deliver incremental results from the joining of multiple data streams.
Academic Activities
I am one of the co-chairs for tutorials at the SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining for multiple years. In addition, I have co-authored more than 10 books on Data and AI.
