Temasek Laboratories@NUS and STAR

TL@NUS conducts research in selected areas of science and technology critical to Singapore's defence and security. It coordinates all other R&D initiatives outside TL@NUS that are established between NUS and Defence Technology Community (DTC). TL@NUS also Identifies and undertakes collaboration in research with both local and overseas research institutions and companies.

welcome message

We aim to develop TL@NUS into a centre of excellence for upstream, basic research in defence science and technology in support of our national requirements. To this end, we continually strengthen our competency by building up core teams of researchers with strong fundamental knowledge in the respective mission areas, innovative ideas, as well as sound practical perspectives. We currently employ over 60 researchers in the key mission areas, and welcome international candidates with good research track records to join us.

Part of our development strategy is to advance our work through collaboration. We have been regularly developing collaborative projects within NUS, particularly with Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science and School of Computing.  We have also been engaging local and international collaborators in selected research topics. Some of our past and present collaborators include Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Dassault Aviation (France), BAE Systems (UK), University of California at Irvine (USA), Ohio State University (USA), and University of Texas at Arlington (USA).

To facilitate the transition of fundamental research results to applications in defence and security, TL@NUS works toward forging a close link between NUS research community and Singapore’s Defence Technology Community (DTC). In particular, we partner DSO in our research to enhance our awareness of technological needs and potential applications.
