Faculty of Dentistry

Faculty of Dentistry’s main research areas are tissue engineering, microbiology and biomaterials. In addition, our translational research interests have extended into regenerative medicine and the ageing population. We offer opportunities to undertake bench, clinical or population level research and have dedicated facilities and staff to support your research training.

welcome message

Dentistry is often seen as a clinical service where all problems with teeth and gums are solved. This is true and I want to share that Dentistry does much more than preserving teeth and gums in good health. Our face identifies us and together with our eyes and voice, we relate with other people. Our mouth is crucial for speech, nutrition and overall wellbeing. It is also the most accessible environment for research in the epidermal-epithelial barrier, neurovascular, musculoskeletal and nutritive-digestive systems. The Faculty of Dentistry has the people and resources to drive craniofacial research and we look forward to welcoming you to our family.
