Harnessing genetics to personalize obesity care

About the Event

Obesity is typically defined by BMI alone, yet individuals with obesity differ substantially in etiology, presentation, complications, and treatment response. While subclassification efforts have traditionally relied on clinical phenotypes, genetic approaches offer distinct advantages: they illuminate underlying biology and can be established early for targeted prevention. Prof Ruth’s talk reviews emerging genetically informed approaches to obesity subclassification and discuss how the data uncovers novel biological pathways for more precise, personalized strategies.
