The National University of Singapore (NUS) is a leading global university known for excellence in education, research and enterprise with a strong international outlook, standing out for its deep grounding in Asian perspectives and expertise. Offering an exceptional and high-quality educational experience, NUS is seeing increasingly intense competition in gaining admission to our postgraduate programmes.
It has come to our attention that there are a number of posts on Chinese social media platforms by purported study abroad agencies offering so-called premium paid services which claim to help applicants secure “guaranteed”, “fast track” or “direct” admissions to postgraduate degree programmes at NUS.
As such, we urge the public to be vigilant and wary of potential scams.
These agencies advertise their services for a fee on platforms such as xiaohongshu and offer support and assistance with the application process and other admissions requirements. The agencies will typically employ fraudulent and deceptive means such as fabricating academic qualifications and other credentials, and including these fake documents in application packages to mislead universities.
Admissions to NUS postgraduate degree programmes adhere strictly to a fair, rigorous and competitive process where all applications are reviewed based on merit. Candidates need to present strong academic credentials and fulfil other stipulated qualifying criteria. There are no “guaranteed”, “fast track” or “direct” admission routes to NUS.
NUS has not authorised or appointed, and does not work with any external parties to act as agents to facilitate admissions to our postgraduate degree programmes. Applications to all NUS postgraduate degree programmes are only through our official NUS website at www.nus.edu.sg/admissions, and not through any third-party platforms or agents.
For inquiries regarding applications and admissions to postgraduate programmes at NUS, please contact NUS Graduate School (https://nusgs.nus.edu.sg/contact-us/) for PhD and Master’s by Research programmes, or the relevant faculty/department for coursework programmes.
All students are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and honesty as a key foundation of their educational journey and intellectual pursuit at NUS. The University takes a serious view of any contravention of academic integrity. Any student, past or present, found to have gained admission to NUS through fraudulent or deceptive means – such as presentation of fake or fabricated academic credentials – will have their candidature terminated or conferred degree revoked.
We strongly urge all prospective applicants to be vigilant and exercise caution, and do not fall victim to these online scams.
NUS reserves the right to pursue legal action against any company, organisation, or individual that misrepresents the University or affects its reputation.
