Why did you choose to do a PhD?

My undergraduate study made me curious about operations research and I hope to explore more in this field.

Why did you choose to do graduate education at NUS? If you received offers from other universities, why did you pick NUS?

NUS has good reputation and a group of experts in the field that I study.

What impact do you hope to have with your research?

I hope I could apply the knowledge I learned here, to make an impact in the real-world applications.

Share a challenge you faced in graduate school and how you overcame it.

Doing a PhD study is not easy, especially for me that do not have a master background. It took me some time and effort to get used to the environment and the pace. Even now I’m not hundred percent sure that I’ve already adapted to it, but I believe it’s much better than before. Everything will work out eventually.

Do you have any interesting personal stories to share? For example, about your journey to get into graduate school, personal hobbies/interests.

I was quite struggled when making decisions about whether to go for master program or PhD program and whether to go to US or stay in SG. Eventually I chose this PhD program in NUS is because of the good faculty here and well-organized training through the program.
