Why did you choose to do a PhD?

The main reason for being a PhD is that I want to be a professor in the university in the future. This is what i want to do in my life–explore new things, teach students and do good research. I am also interested in exploring new scientific ideas and doing experiments.

Why did you choose to do graduate education at NUS? If you received offers from other universities, why did you pick NUS?

My major in NUS has good research environment, worldwide reputation and high ranking. These are the main reason I chose NUS to do my PhD. After studying here for four years, I find that there are also many good professors and researchers here, which can give you a lot of chance to learn from them and collaborate with them.

Briefly share about your research or thesis (i.e. dissertation topic for Masters by Coursework students).

My research is focus on the single atom electrocatalysts for energy applications. in details, it is to synthesize atomically dispersed metal catalysts, explore wide electrocatalytic applications (such as water splitting, CO2 reduction), and use advanced microscopy techniques to illustrate why these materials are active towards these reactions.
